The short version
Your budget never leaves your phone. CustomBudget has no account, no login and no bank connection. Every transaction, envelope and amount you enter is stored only on your device. We have no servers that could receive it, even if we wanted them to.
The app makes no network requests as part of using it. There is no analytics service, no crash reporting, no advertising SDK and no subscription processing, because there is nothing to subscribe to.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account — there is no sign-up
- Your bank credentials — CustomBudget cannot connect to a bank, by design
- Your transactions, payees, amounts, envelopes or budget figures
- Your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location
- Your device’s advertising identifier
- Anything at all that would let us identify you
We do not sell data, share it with data brokers, or show advertisements. There is no mechanism in the app to do any of those things.
No analytics, no trackers, no third-party services
CustomBudget contains no analytics service, no product-usage tracking, no crash reporting and no advertising or attribution SDK. No event, identifier or diagnostic is transmitted anywhere, and there is no opt-out screen because there is nothing to opt out of.
There is also no subscription and no in-app purchase in the version being submitted, so no payment processor is involved and no purchase profile is created.
Where your data lives
Everything you enter — transactions, envelopes, allocations, accounts, recurring rules and settings — is stored only on your device, in a local database.
- Export. Settings → Export Backup writes a single file containing all of your data. You choose where it goes using your device’s own share sheet: Files, iCloud Drive, email, AirDrop. We never see it. Export is free and always will be, because it is your data.
- Restore. Restore from a file you exported earlier. CustomBudget keeps a seven-day undo snapshot on your device in case it was not the file you meant.
- Delete. Erase everything from within Settings, or delete the app, which removes all of its local data with it.
If you delete the app without exporting first, your data is gone permanently. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.

CustomBudget does not request camera, microphone, photo library, contacts or location access.
Children’s privacy
CustomBudget is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing to delete — but if you have a concern, please contact us.
Your rights under GDPR, CCPA and elsewhere
Because your data never leaves your device, most data-subject rights are things you exercise directly in the app rather than by asking us:
- Access and portability: Settings → Export Backup, any time, free.
- Erasure: erase all data in Settings, or delete the app.
- We do not sell personal information, as defined by the CCPA or any other statute.

Security
Your data sits inside your device’s app sandbox, protected by the device’s own encryption and its passcode or biometric lock. Because nothing is transmitted to us, there is no server-side database of your finances that could be breached.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for anything material we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Adding a feature that changed what is collected would be a material change.
